5 Tips to Prep Your Luxury Car for Winter

Even though we are currently enjoying the autumn season, winter is coming. In two short months, we will be driving in the winter months with all the hurdles that come with that. It’s not too early to start planning the winterization of your European luxury vehicle now.

Along with the holiday season comes challenges that each Rolls Royce, Bentley, and other luxury automobile owner will face. Even in warm climates like here in beautiful California, there are still precautions you can take and tips that you can use to make it through the winter months without any complications. Here are five tips you can use right now to prep your European luxury or supercar for winter.

Keep a Close Eye on Your Radiator Fluids

Even when there aren’t freezing temperatures, the antifreeze liquid in your radiator can build-up due to colder weather. If this happens, leaks occur, especially in older vehicles, and can cause serious issues if not addressed immediately.

Change Your Tires

In warmer climates like California, we’re not typically used to driving in winter weather conditions or on icy roads. For this reason, you must check your Bentley tires and Rolls-Royce tires to make sure they have enough tread. Doing this will help keep you safe while driving, as well as your passengers and other motorists with whom you share the road.

Keep Your Vehicle Clean

This is perhaps one of the more overlooked aspects of winter car maintenance. However, it is especially important for those of us with large investments in European luxury vehicles. Along with the winter months comes slush, road grime, and salt build-up that should be addressed sooner rather than later. If you don’t nip a dirty vehicle in the bud, you run the risk of developing rust on your Bentley or Rolls-Royce. This risk is heightened in colder weather months.

Check Windshield Wipers

Another area that is crucial to check for winter is your windshield wipers. Winter precipitation like snow and sleet are heavier than summer rain, so your wipers have to be fully functional to maintain your visibility while driving. Check both your wipers and your washer fluid to make sure that they are in top working order.

Store a Car Emergency Kit

One of the worst things that can happen to a driver is to be stranded in an area with no mobile phone service. This worst nightmare scenario is made even worse when it happens at night. Be sure to keep an emergency kit in your vehicle that has a flashlight, some emergency flares, a radio, a blanket, non-perishable food items, and so on.
